I seriously didn't know what gender Crystal beast Ruby Carbuncle was, but after reading several webpages (like metagame.com and such) were Carbuncle is depicted as a "she", I thought I'd tag along on it as well.

And now, for some senseless Yugioh ranting that all you non-YGO fans can skip if you want.
In my oppinion, both Amethyst cat and ruby Carbuncle are worth playing in a Crystal Beast-deck. Why? Let's look at the facts:
Ruby Carbuncle - She's a must. Whenever she's special-summoned, you may special-summon as many crystal beasts as possible that are in your Spell/Trap-zone. Think of how much special summon-support Crystal beasts have, she'll have no problem when it comes to turning your empty field into a full field.
Amethyst Cat - Second lowest stats (ATK 1200/ DEF 400) of all Crystal beasts. Why run her when you could run something like Cobalt Eagle instead, who at least has ATK 1400? First of all, why would you run Cobalt eagle? Not for attack, since bothe Amber Mammoth and Topaz Tiger beats him there. For his effect? Seriously, no. Once per turn, he can return any crystal beast you control to the top of the owners deck. First of all, you wouldn't use that effect on your own beasts. You want them on the field. Second it goes to the top of the deck. Even if you'd want to use it on you own cards, it goes to the top of your deck, not your hand, meaning you just wasted a beast (not getting it's effect when it's destroyed or such) and a draw (drawing the same beast). What does the cat have? Well, she has minus 200 attack, and an effekt that let's you attack directly if you halve her ATK (not permanentaly, though). Oh, may I also mention she's level 3? That' means she gets under Gravity Bind and Level Limit Area B. So give her some attack-boost and let her have a go at your opponent directly.
